The Expedition dungeon family opens through the story quest "Wind Breeze Merchants" (Elyos) or "Daeva in a Dream" (Asmodians).
How the gate works
A main-line quest gated by story progress rather than a level number. Finish it and the Expedition dungeon list opens in the dungeon finder.

What Expeditions Are
Expeditions are the game's marquee instanced dungeons — the content that receives new entries every patch, each with an Exploration (learning) difficulty and a Conquest ladder (Normal / Advanced / Hard). They are the core of the PvE endgame and the main source of progression-grade gear.
The Two-Difficulty Rhythm
Run Exploration first to learn mechanics at reduced boss damage, then move to Conquest as your gear allows. Conquest has its own aggregate item-level gates — see the conquest-tier milestones below for the exact numbers.

Getting the Quest Done
Keep pushing the main story. The Expedition unlock quest is positioned along the leveling route, so the fastest path to your first real dungeon is the same path you were already on — the leveling guide maps it stop by stop.
