AION 2 Gladiator Class Guide

Role: Melee DPS

Weapon: Greatsword

Learning curve: Gentle

Role in the Party

The Gladiator trades the Templar's shield for a huge blade and stays on the frontline as a damage dealer. It is the most approachable of the melee classes β€” durable enough to forgive positioning mistakes while still swinging for satisfying numbers, which makes it the standard recommendation for a first character.

Playstyle

Direct, uncomplicated combat: close the gap, keep your swing rotation running, dodge the telegraphs you recognize. It asks far less execution than the Assassin and rewards consistency over flash. In dungeons you bring steady melee damage and a body that survives mechanics meant for squishier classes.

Planning to solo most of your road to 45? Gladiator is the forgiving pick β€” see the leveling guide for why durability compounds over an entire leveling route.

Leveling to 45

One of the three self-sufficient solo classes at launch. The story route keeps you supplied with gear, and the class's natural durability means fewer potion bills and fewer corpse runs. Group content is available from the level-30 daily dungeons onward, and a Gladiator fills a standard DPS slot in any party.

Progression Notes

Weapon enhancement is where Gladiators feel power spikes: Unique greatswords enhance safely to +10 and then roll 65% β†’ 50% β†’ 35% β†’ 25% β†’ 20% odds with a +5% bonus per failure. The enhancement guide breaks down expected costs, and the class tier list consensus is that Gladiator ages well into Conquest content.
